Event 4 — Bedford Harriers

Course

A little under 5 miles, entirely off road, starting and finishing on the school playing field. The race does a lap of the field, leaves through a gate down a farm track, turns right across a muddy field and right again along two field edges to Yelnow Lane. It then heads left up this green lane to a small wood for two loops, crosses Yelnow Lane for a further loop, and returns to the playing field for a sprint finish. About two thirds of the course is on grass field edges or in woods; the rest is muddy field or Yelnow Lane, which is rutted, often waterlogged and slippery. There is likely to be two-way running on Yelnow Lane, so please be aware and careful. The course follows woodland and public footpaths, and a map will be displayed on the day. No headphones of any description are permitted, as they may stop runners hearing marshals' instructions.

Footwear: Spikes or studs recommended, preferably spikes. Under no circumstances are outside shoes, cross country studs or spikes to be worn in the sports hall.

Parking

Facilities

There is a sports hall with changing but no showers; outside shoes, studs or spikes must not be worn inside it under any circumstances. There are very few toilets in the building, so plenty of portaloos are provided. Food and hot drinks will be provided after the race.
